...increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. Luke 2:52
The Christian Schools or Arizona has organized their annual CSA competition with a classical and sacred theme to provide a challenge toward excellence among Christian students of Arizona. This competition has been opened to the homeschooling community and allows Christian young people to develop disciplined skills in various areas of proficiency so that they might better serve the Lord throughout their lives. Certainly a worthy goal of Christian education is to follow the example of our Saviour.
Registration: Print out either the Individual Registration Form
or the Group Registration Form,
fill out the form, and mail it with your entrance fees to the CSA Competition Coordinator, Mrs. Rebecca M. Stertzbach, 2150 East Southern Ave., Tempe, AZ 85282. You may call her 480-838-7070 x268 or e-mail her at becky.stertzbach@ibconline.edu Please address the subject line "CSA competition registration."
.....Home educators note: In order to ensure that all participants are aware of the competition parameters, homeschoolers are asked to register under the umbrella of a currently participating church. You do not need to be a member of one of these churches, you may just register under them for this competition. For a list of these churches, please contact Shawn Sullivan or Paula Beck for more information.
Entrance Fees: To cover the administration costs including the hiring of professional judges, the CSA organization charges a menial cost of $3.00 per entry, whether it is for an Individual Category or a Group Category.

Fine Arts Fesival: Students who have achieved the recognition of "excellent performer" by the judges will be asked to perform their pieces at the Fine Arts Festival immediately following Friday's competition. Awards: Recognition and ribbon ceremony for first, second, and third place in each area of performance will take place at the Fine Arts Festival.

Participants are expected to abide by the standard of the host of day's events which includes discreet and professional poise. No loud or critical behavior will be tolerated. Patience, kindness, and good sportsmanship is the goal of every participant. Behavior which does not exemplify Biblical standards will be grounds for disqualification from competition and/or expulsion from the campus.
Time Limitation and Disqualification: Students will be penalized for going over time or under time in any category of competition where time limits are established. Points or a fraction of a point will be deducted which may prevent an otherwise first place winner from placing first, a second place winner from placing second, or a third place winner from placing third. Exception: The time limit for an academic test cannot exceed one hour. The time limit for "Creative Writing: Poetry" and "Expository Writing: Essay" cannot exceed 2 hours.
Amount of entries: Each homeschool association is limited to only 3 entries per category (listed under each "AREA") in both the academic and fine arts sections.
Performance Time: Individual contestants and groups must arrive to the competition room no less than five minutes prior to their scheduled performance time, unless prior arrangements have been made with the judges in the room. Failure to meet this requirement can result in disqualification.
Photocopied Music: Based upon the legal opinion to the "fair use" doctrine set forth in Section 107, Title 17 of the United States Code, the CSA Competition requires the following: for all categories requiring memorization, one original composition must be present at the competition. For group competition not requiring memorization, all students and accompanist (if applicable) must have access to an original composition. Copies given to the judges may be photocopied to enable the judges to make written comments.
